Curing Oven - A Boon For Industries

Curing oven is a boon to the industries that helps in curing of the product, which is the final step of the painting process. The curing oven raises the temperature of the product mass and keeps it stable for a long time. Before the product is made to enter the curing oven, the product should be cleaned, dried, coated and rinsed.

Various Applications Of The Curing Oven

Temperature and time are very important factors to consider while you are curing the coated product. However, you should be careful to avoid any danger. Apart from simple curing, the oven also serves various other purposes.
Following are some of the applications of Curing oven:
Core hardening
Preheating
Baking
Aging
Plastic curing
Paint drying
Epoxy curing
Varnish baking
Shrink packaging

Curing Combination Oven

Curing oven is often used to cure powder coatings also. This powder coating is easily done with another type of curing oven called the combination oven -- oven that employ both infrared and convection rays. This oven usually connects infrared and convection heating zones together in series, that is, a zone of infrared followed by a zone of convection.

Different Types Of Curing Oven

There are three types of curing ovens basically used by the industries. They are Vertical shock oven, Horizontal cure oven heated by infrared and Horizontal cure oven heated by hot air.
Vertical shock oven - With the help of this oven, it becomes very easy and fast to process sponge extrusion as the change of the length of the profile during the cure process does not affect processing. The thickness and specific gravity of the product is maintained.
Horizontal cure oven heated by infrared - With the temperature ranging from 250-300°C, this oven offers fast curing along with retaining the perfect thickness of the product.
Horizontal cure oven heated by hot air - The speed of hot air transfer is very fast in this oven thereby leading to a rapid curing of the products. The temperature can be raised to 290-320°C.

The people involved in the coating process should know the proper temperature and time required for curing the products. However, the curing processor should also know the other factors like product window size, line speed, product weight/ conveyor weight and hanging space needed for the products.
